Hello.
I have a 1996 900S (2.3litre 4 cylinder) with a 4-speed Automatic. Over the past month, I've had problems with it while shifting out of park, and while braking. I think they are related problems.
While sitting in my parking spot, when I shift into Drive or Reverse (from Park), the car will stutter momentarily once it's been shifted, and then get back to it's rev speed, all while my foot is still on the brake (before I start moving). I don't know what this is?
The second problem is have is, when coming up on a stoplight or stop sign, if I use my brakes and come to a complete stop without braking real slowly, once I come to a complete stop, the car will shift out of any gear and be in neutral. It will not go back into gear again until I let off the brake, and gas it, and it hits almost 1500RPMs...so it ends up being a jerking sort of motion. I'm assuming it is something to do with the transmission not properly downshifting....it just seems to shift into neutral, instead of stay in "gear" so whenever I let off the brake, it'll slowly move at an idle speed.
All suggestions and advice are appreciated, I am new to SAABs. If you mention a part/piece, please include where it is located or a picture if possible. I am also not very familiar with some of the SAAB acronyms, so please spell them out!
Thanks a lot!
