We've got 9 paid participants, although I think 8 will actually show.
I spoke with Larry Jr. at HPWorks today and the weather looks like it's going to be a nice day in the 50's or so. So we are ON! Larry is looking for us no earlier than 8:30.
Frank Hum, I know I said 6 am in Bealton, but that was assuming an 8 am start... Make it 6:30 and we should have plenty of time.
HPWorks is located at 2410 Stoney Knoll, Colonial Beach, Va. 22443. It's actually in a rural housing development. It otherwise doesn't look like your typical speed shop and is very easy to miss. I strongly urge you all to caravan down.
What to bring:
1. Yourself
2. Your car
3. Warm, layered clothes -- last year was wet and rainy. Though it was above the prescribed 40 degrees, it was danged miserable. I don't think we'll encounter the same weather this year. (We hope!)
4. Lawn chairs -- seating was at a premium last year. I would advise bringing something to sit in. While others are having their cars dyno'd you'll have long intervals of sitting around waiting on your turn.
Meeting/Caravan point(s):
From Virgninia: Take I-95 south to the first Fredericksburg exit, US Route-17, exit 133B. (Sign may reference Falmouth, Va.) At the first right, there is an entrance to a Truck Stop and McDonalds. We're meeting at the McD's. Please try to be there by around 7 am.
From Maryland: Randy Rude mentioned that for him it was quicker taking Maryland Route 5 through Waldorf to US 301 and across the Potomac to Dahlgren, then on to Colonial Beach.
Randy Rude, I'll let you post a meeting place if you decide to lead a caravan from Maryland.
And of course for the more adventurous, you can plug in HPWorks address into Mapquest and drive directly. If you do, however, please let me know so we're not waiting around for you.
And finally, if you DO want to caravan, but are delayed for any reason the day of, my cell phone is 703-508-5973.
Looking forward to it!
Jim Miller, WASSAAB
