I have a 2002 Saab 9-5 Aero which has been periodically stalling out when I am idling at stop lights. If I just turn the car off, it restarts OK, but it appears to be happening more frequently recently. Yesterday, when it stalled out I turned the car off and restarted, but this time, the check engine light and the auto transmission light kicked on. I only drove it another two miles to get to my apartment, but I noticed after this incident that when I stepped on the gas, the car was not accelerating as it normally does, but was very slow to get moving off a stop. My internet searching led me to think that I may need a fuel filter or worse perhaps a fuel pump. Does this sound correct based on the limited info? I have already put over 1K into the car this past month as I had to pay for a new water and heater pump so I am trying to do this as affordably as possible. Thanks!
