CV trim, spoliers and whale tails- try this. Long

My well sun-baked CV "rubber" molding is more like a sponge now. I first combated the problem with "Black Agian." A temp solution and gone with the first rain.
I switched to another idea with more "staying power." I taped off the paint and sprayed straight silicone on. I know it only makes it worse, but the near term benefit was great (and the rubber is that far gone)! Black and new looking- until the 1st rain... caused many streaks on the paint (and damage I'm sure) and was a bitch to wash off. That lasted about 2-3 rains and then look cool for another 2-4 months.
Recently I let my well neglected trim 'clean' itself down to an ugly dim black with history of waxing all over it. I tired Lexols Vynalex (SP?) on the interior and tires and was impressed enough to give it the trim challenge. I used a small cut-up sponge and applied it in a dabing motion. The immediate results were excellent!
The next day it rained and I was not surprised to see the streaks of oily looking gunk on my new paint! A quick wash easily removed the debris and the dry trim looked as black and as new as before. I figured I was on the silicone hunt again.
It rained a few days ago- no streaks and the trim still looks 100% better.
This products claims that it "bonds" with surfaces with 'plastizers?' Can't comment on this level of chemestry, but it really seems to make a big differance. Seems to meet somewhere between water based and silicone based products.
I'll keep you posted on the long(er) term effects.
