Vinylex on shroud??

Hi,
Silly question but I was just changing my cabin filter and the black plastic shroud thing that goes over/around the wiper arms was looking a bit dirty. I figured since it was plastic that Lexol Vinylex would be fine and provide some UPF protection as well, but now that I look at it, it seems like it doesn't look very shiny. Maybe this was how it really was before (I don't really remember the "before" condition), but was Vinylex a good choice or should I get one of those black-restoring products that people recommend? I guess my worry was that Vinylex might not be appropriate for exterior plastics.
