Hey folks. Well I have had a new car a little over two weeks. Didn't notice the hard water spots until the next day after I bought it due to poor lighting, but it shows up like crazy in the sun and bugs the hell out of me, the spots cover every single window. They are hard to see on the paint, but definitely there too, most noticeable on the hood and roof. Well, I brought the car in today to do a fabric protection and paint sealant service. I had inquired about 10 days ago about the spots on the windows, and was told they would do an acid wash to get rid of the spots. So I thought that was cool, at the time I hadn't noticed them on the paint yet. However, I figured they would do a complete cleaning of the paint before putting on the paint sealant.

Well, the windows do look a lot better, but I can still see a ton of spots, they are just weaker, and it was night when I picked up the car. I'm sure they will be more visible tomorrow. Also, where I didn't see spots on the paint before, now they really stand out, and in several places it doesn't even looked like they washed the car!

So my question is, if an acid wash (whatever that actually is) doesn't get out the window spots, what the heck does?? This kind of defect on the glass is completely unacceptable to me on a brand new car, but maybe the dealer is going to tell me they have done all they can, so it would be nice to know what actually needs to be done to get rid of the spots. And as for the paint, now that it has sealant on it, are the hard water spots on there for good? Seems to me if the sealant is over the spots, the only way to get rid of the spots would be to remove the sealant, then clean the paint to get rid of the spots, then apply sealant again. Am I close on that?

The dealer will be getting a earful from me tomorrow either on the phone or in person for sure. I find it rather ironic that one of the benefits listed in the brochure for the paint sealant is 'resists water spotting'.
