My recent experience was polishing an steel composites mold. When I recieved it the milling machine marks were still in it so I started with rough sandpaper and worked my way up to 1800 or 2000 grit paper. Then I polished the mold. I learned to let the polisher do the work. In order to get the swirls out of the mirror finish I had to hold the polisher level, with very little weight...and then slowly lift it off the surface as it buffed its own tracks.
Cant wait to detail my own car.
