unless your paint is in bad shape DO NOT wet sand or compound your paint, way to abrasive.
You said the paint looks good and the results were OK, but not great.
My daughter has a white acura looked OK and when I washed it it looked better. But when I took it to the next level it looked like new paint.
1. wash car, turtle wax car car wash is fine.
2. Clay car or use a paint prep, I prefer a mild clay, this will set up the paint for polish.
3. wash car again, could use a car shampoo.
4. Polish car, my choice Klasse AIO, A very little goes a long way and it is not quick, but I was amazed at how dingy the white was and how bright it could be.
5. optional, a coat of wax to get an even deeper luster.
good luck
