I have used Griot's Garage paint cleaning clay on my windshield and sunroof with pretty good results.
I usually use Bon Ami Brand Cleaning Powder, the "Hasn't Scratched Yet!" baby chick trademark dry powder cleanser, made by the Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Company to clean the windshield. Use a garden hose to wet the windshield then apply a small amount of Bon Ami to a wet sponge or soft cloth and gently clean the windshield. Let the Bon Ami do the work. Do not apply much pressure to the sponge or cloth. Just gently scrub the entire windshield. Thoroughly rinse the windshield and surrounding paint and dry the windshield with a soft cloth. DO NOT USE Comet or Ajax as they WILL scratch the glass.
