I get the impression that the cars engine is broken, right?
Are you in the US? Warranty works very different in different countries.
And here in US, the 2000 9-3 doesn't have a timing belt (no 9-3 do). Is it maybe a 9-5 that you own?
Why was this part (timing belt?) "repaired" 9 month ago? And if it was, how do you know that the shop you took it to at that time didn't install it improperly.
Why would Saab cover a former repair done at another shop? Or do say that the "repair" 9 month ago was made at a Saab dealer?
IF the car is a 9-5 (with timing belt) and IF the car was maintained/serviced by a Saab dealer 9 month ago, AND it was the timing belt that was replaced at that time, I would think that your warranty would cover the break down even if another shop would have looked at the car before towing it to the dealer.
But it's always a case by case study when the car have been taken to another shop, even for a second opinion.
