I just took delivery on a lightly-used 9-3 convertible, and discovered that there doesn't seem to be any way to get line level audio into the sound system. (If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know!)

However, being the proprietor of an electronic design consulting company, I am considering developing a suitable adaptor. I'm posting this message to find out if there is enough interest to make this worthwhile.

This is absolutely not a "For Sale" offer - this item is a long way from being available. If there is enough interest, once the adaptor is available I'll post an ad in the For Sale section (probably no sooner than next spring.)

There are two possible versions under consideration:

1 - A simple, relatively inexpensive adaptor that would connect between the trunk-mounted CD player and its cable, as well as connecting to an XM radio or MP3 player via a standard connector. The adaptor would convert the new audio source to a form compatible with the SAAB sound system, and switch between the two. This version of the adaptor would require that the CD changer spin, unheard, while the alternate source was being used.

2 - A somewhat more expensive unit that would do all of the above, as well as intercept the data stream to the player. This would permit listening to the new audio source without having to spin the CD changer (and possibly without even having it installed). In addition, an IR remote control sender compatible with the Delphi XM SkyFi recevier would be provided, permitting the steering-wheel-mounted controls to be used for limited control of the Delphi.

If you think this might be of interest to you, please let me know (private email or public posting) which of the two appeals to you, and what you think a fair price would be.

Thanks,

Larry
