The SAAB Hirsch AERO's 280/310Hp need HIGH OCTANE GAS without trash in it. Now many states mandate all kind of trash in their gas, with that stuff in there, there is no way that these engines will perform up to specs. Those engines need MIN of 98RON or 92AON to perform... but that gas quality is not available verywhere in the US. Customers would feel bad about paying extra for more power, then no gas is available...
Another problem is the suspension of these cars, they're sports suspensions... much harder then most would expect. As to coping with potholes US size... would also be a real problem cause of the lower ground clearance.
So SAAB USA is holding back on this.
I agree... it is a mistake... I have a 280Hp Hirsch 9-5 Aero and it is a great care, real nightmare for RICE and lots of wanabee fast cars.
There is not much one can do at this stage. Keep calling SAAB USA and demand them.
Regards,
Coolknight
