Re. did the responders cut the car in pieces, it's pretty clear from the next-to-last photo that the car broke in two as the result of collision. This view, looking back towards the road, tells the tale: the car slid sideways into the tree passenger side first and broke in two, with the front and back halves and the drivetrain coming to rest in very different spots.
Had the rescuers cut it in two, they certainly wouldn't have dragged the pieces tens of feet *into* the woods.
So, is this an A3? Is that at least one balding tire I see? What country is it?
I'm going to guess that the car was *not* airborne when it hit but rather, it hit door first (where the door remains) then rolled up the tree (see the big missing piece of bark) onto its roof where it broke in two pieces which kept going. The drivetrain probably broke free there as well. As to the Audi poster's question, "how fast?" Fast enough.
I've seen quite a few accident scenes, but nothing like this. I'm a little surprised there was no fire.
