Another question about importing from US to Canada..

I have a link to my last question posted on the topic at the end of this post...
Anyway, I've got a good handle on what's required to import the 93 9000 (in terms of recall letter, title docs, etc). The RIV.CA site was fairly helpful, however I have some questions unanswered.
1. When I get to Washington to pickup the car, do I need to get a temporary permit to drive the car from Washington back to Canada? If so, what documents do I present to the DMV and cost. Otherwise, is it possible to just put on my own Ontario plates and drive the car up. Then, at the border, present the signed over title, registration docs, bill of sale, etc,
2.
Although the car is being gifted to me, do I still pay duty, tax, etc on the car when I enter Canada? If so, how is it valued. I'm considering just buying the car for a nominal amount (like $500) and then presenting a bill of sale to customs. This way, I'm assuming they'll make me pay duty and tax based on the purchase amount and not the book value for the car.
These are the only two questions I still haven't found the answer to. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thx.
Quattro
