The trip was strictly pleasure - if you can call spending vast sums of savings on oil as pleasurable. I left the '97 CS/2 liter/5 sp w/my friend, in London. I plan on going back next February, and using it some more. You wouldn't believe how expensive oil is in Europe. The best price I saw was at a hypermarket, in France, where M1 5W-40 in a 5 liter jug was selling for 33 euros, a little more than $40. Being a hypermarket, that's a deep discounted price. At a gas station, it's considerably more - for example, I saw a liter of M1 for 20 euros at a station in Bologna. Same kind of pricing structure that we have in the 'states for gas, too - it's cheapest at super/hypermarkets and most expensive along the major highways, superstrada, etc. Still, it's the only way I'd travel. I could have flown from London to Pisa, round-trip for not much more than $100. But with the 9000 I was able to bring my bike and my theory is: the slower pace one uses to travel, the more detailed information one will have in making informed opinions on things, in general.......say no more!
