Laphroaig if I'm feeling Spendy, Famous Grouse if feeling thrify, which as a Scot, is more often than not. (or Isle of Jura 12 yo if somewhere in the middle). Laphroaig is a bit of an acquired tasts - it is arguably THE Islay malt - it tastes Peaty, Iodiney and Seashorey. In fact, the warehouse where it ages is right on a cliff over the sea, so that porous Oak lets the sea air right in. The Grouse is a very well kept secret - it is blended from a good number very nice single malts all owned by the one large group which owns them (forget which).
(Related joke - Headline in last weeks Lanarkshire Gazette: Taxi in Glasgow crashes, 24 Glaswegians injured, 3 killed.)
I think I'm going to pour myself a wee dram as soon as I get home...
Campbell Hugh Wallace.
