also in NY ..upstate ....got in a amazingly beautifull fall foliage ride last weekend in the balmy 60-65 degree weather. Was thinking how much I love to ride and how much I like my bike. You become attached to your bike like you do your cars, a performance machine ! Wouldn't you love to catch them in the act with a baseball bat to set them straight. Then again depending on what level criminal they are, you could have gotten shot over a bicycle. What type of lock system did you have? I use a large padlock with about a 3/4 inch Kryptonite cable looped between the bikes and thru the rack body. Nothing that bolt cutters could't take care of in seconds but what else can you do, aside from getting a larger vehicle to store them inside of, or break them down(wheels off etc) and store them in your Saab, but thats a pain.
