Driver's side power window won't go up!

Dearest Saab-o-philes,
My '89 900 Turbo (4door) seemed to have a ghost controlling my driver's side power window. In the last days of its "functioning" life, I could roll the window up, hold the switch for a minute, then release, and it would stay up. After driving around for a few minutes, down came the window all by itself. It is completely down now and the rain is pouring here. The switch feels dead, it doesn't even make a "click" when I try it.
I'm a Saab lover with almost no mechanical skills. I welcome your advice, and would dearly appreciate it before I head down to our less-than-trustworthy local Euro shop. Thanks all!
