Outdoor lighting? Posted by Sarunas [Email] (#804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Sarunas) on Wed, 31 Aug 2005 06:21:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello,
With long dark nights of autumn approaching I'm planning on installing some outdoors lights along the stairway garage-to-house and also at the driveway entrance to illuminate the post with the street number (and maybe some trees too). There are many low-voltage lights/kits to choose from, but I'm not certain on what wattage is needed. Path-illuminating lamps range from 4W to 18W and floodlights are up to 50W and more. Has anyone experience with this? What lights do you use? The stairway and path I'd like to illuminate is ~40'. Using 3 to 5 lights probably.
21W lights used in cars sort-of-a illuminate locally, but then there are usually several of them on at once. 5W ones don't really shed much light. But then, they are not halogen bulbs either... 55W halogen lights used for low/high beam are too bright already.
