I got it about 2.5 years ago at Best Buy, along with a matching washer. I don't have model number, but they are in the Crown line, and naturally no longer a current model. Mine look like the regular old appliance (controls in the back on top, like a typical kitchen range) except of course the washer door is in front. The ones you buy with the controls on the front as well, ie no backsplash, are generally considerably more expensive. That's the price you pay for being able to put it completely under a counter or being able to stack them on top of each other. Just glancing through Frigidaire's site, it seems they no longer sell a front loader with controls in the back. The prices for the front control washers are just slightly more than what I paid, but the front control dryers are $200-300 more, which is almost double the price, compared to a rear control dryer. Also, I bought a higher end dryer with a moisture sensor and a bunch of other controls. I've now realized that I don't need even half of the features it offers, could have saved myself some money. But maybe my girlfriend will need them at some point. The moisture sensor is nice but I don't find it all that accurate, but perhaps I like my clothes dryer than they actually need to be...
In any case, you can get a Frigidaire set in your price range, even going by MSRP, other brands seem to be more expensive on average. Also, three of the four Frigidaire front loaders are Energy Star certified, which may get you a discount through your local power company.
