Have had great success with my itrip. However, very few of those miles are in an urban enviornment. Never noticed trouble except in the Bay Area. Oddly enough, in urban areas, picking a frequency in use nets a clearer signal while in rural it is the opposite. OPthers have noted the same thing.
I did us the seth aux in with great success in my 9-3 and will be modifying my 9-5 later this month. No static and the parts are ~$10 if you already have a soldering iron. Add $15 for an iron. Of the two, the aux in is better and cheaper (it does require a few hours of work though).
