This all misses the bigger point Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Tue, 13 Sep 2005 17:19:22 In Reply to: Great article on the goverment's response to Hurricane, immo1, Tue, 13 Sep 2005 10:44:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
And the biggest point, for me, is this is the state our national security.
This is the best we can muster in a time of national crisis.
Forget about the failings of local and state performance. I don't know the political history of LA and frankly I don't care right now. I do know that even after the levees had failed, our president was yukking it up out west, our Secretary of State was shoe shopping in NY, our mysterious VP was house shopping in Maryland (or something), and our FEMA director, a man with absolutely no experience in such matters and who apparently lied on his resume, was three days late acknowledging the tragedy in the Superdome.
There *has* to be a blame game and *now* because if this is what W calls securing our people, which was the central plank in his reelection platform, we're in desperately sad shape and it's imperative that it be fixed...now! Yes, point fingers and let heads roll...now!
Stop the nation-building/resource-grabbing/good buddy glad-handing nonsense and fix this country.
