I bought a bottom-of-the-range Fujitsu-Siemens PDA with Navigon software and bluetooth GPS receiver for 475 EUR on the Internet. It works very well, the software covers all of Western Europe and parts of Eastern Europe (I think the corresponding bundle in North America covers Canada and the US).
The bluetooth GPS receiver is useful when we use it in my wife's car as it has a heat reflecting foil in the windscreen that doesn't allow GPS signals to pass through; thus we place the GPS receiver by the rear window but don't need cables all over the place.
If you don't need the bluetooth function they even have an all-in-one PNA solution for 349 EUR. Have a look at http://www.navigon.com.
Regards,
Caspar
