A European vacation and a new car!!!!!... Two of the most memorable things in life are a European vacation and getting a new car and combining the two is heavenly. The factory tour is a kick, my wife who didn't think she would like it was mesmorized by the robotic equipment dancing around the cars with flying welding sparks. Guys have seen that stuff, but for the gals it was quite a bit more of a surprise. The Saab Museum is a little dryer and more static than the factory tour, but it's smaller too. I haven't been since they re-did it. Around the Museum are the shipping locks, a pretty neat attraction.
Trollhattan is a nice country town and you'll likely stay at the elegant Ronnum Mannor the night before you pick up your car. Sometimes Saab puts people up at the Hotel Eggers in downtown Gothenberg, the nearby big seaport city. Gothenberg is a trip, take the harbor and canal tour and visit the ship museum. It's small enough to walk and has a wonderful seaport history. We really enjoyed a ballet at the magnificent waterfront opera house.
From Gothenberg and Trollhattan your just 5-6 hours from the continent, south to Malmo and across the bridge to Copenahagen another delightful European city. From there Europe awaits. France, Germany, Italy, wherever is just a days drive. Or I have a fella' who will be picking his car up in Vienna for a small ($545) additional charge. Paris is quite reasonable too.
And new for 2006 any European delivery is a steal! Approx 10% off PLUS a $2,000 travel allowance which is ever so much better than years past with US only incentives that didn't apply to European delivery. As a comparison a BMW European delivery is only 7% off and no $2,000 travel allowance.
