OT: Question about analog video signal Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Thu, 22 Dec 2005 17:59:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So many places I could ask this but here's where I can probably get the best starting point. The Issue:
I like to use my ATI 9600XT All-in-Wonder to record analog cable shows and then NeroVision Express to burn the .mpg to DVD-RW. Did this without a hiccup for several months. I recently reinstalled the OS (and everything else, of course) due to adding a SATA drive and wanting it as the system drive. But now....
I record a program at "DVD full" as usual, no problem. But then when burning the video, during the 'transcoding' process, NeroVision throws a buffer overflow, and only during a commercial break. It happens during almost all commercial breaks. Watching the process on the previewer, I can see it stall and the process aborts. It happens roughly 30 seconds into the break. Doesn't matter what commercial. and it doesn't happen at any particular time during the recording, just during any random commercial.
I can go back and edit out the breaks and the process will complete but that gets real tedious since it's a daily news show and besides it used to not be a problem.
So what's different about the signal during a commercial break? I know I'll have to reinstall the ATI drivers (a brutal process I hate inflicting on a new system) but I'd like to understand this broadcasting nuance.
Thanks for any advice.
