and I suppose they do it to give users option of dual boot or seperate data partion or what have you. You might actually have a 3rd "hidden" recovery partion too.
I won't pretend to understand CPUs (you probably know far more than me as many do) but are you comparing single threaded processes on a lightly loaded system? They probably will be similar under such as isn't the 3800+ basically 2 3200 cpus stuck together more or less (sort of)? However, the 3800+ should pull away as the processes crank up. Although I haven't benchmarked it to anything I am pretty happy with my 3800+ while running multiple imaging programs (often batch processing while working on something else).
