Private property owners have the right to regulate access and behvavior on their property with all sorts of restrictions and requirements and regularly do. Nothing unusual about the ConocoPhilips policy in this regard. I know my employeer also has similar policy and it covers alot more than firearms. I am not passing judgement on the policy just saying that is the way things are. If you can stop someone from walking into a building with a camera phone a property owner can certainly regulate what you carry onto private property of any type. Now apparently after the fact the state passed a law but that is another issue and seems sort of strange to have a single exception when things like alcohol and photographic equipment that are banned on similar terms at some places aren't give similar protection.
