But I like the heartier stuff - ales, porters, stouts, etc. and in general I think the Brits do a better job of those as would be expected. But some of the micros come darn close. To me, pilsners are just nasty and watery, even the european ones, though some are perhaps a bit more flavorful than the US brands.
For just a good, crisp, all around easy drinking beer - I'll take a Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale. But nothing beats a Watney's Cream Stout with a big thick ribeye and fries dinner. You'll have a small heart attack afterwards, but at least you'll die a happy man.
