Lots of things to do: eat chocolates not found in the US, Atomium (already mentioned, site of world's fair in the 50's, it's in Heysel, scene of some football hooliganism in the 80's), see battle sights in nearby Waterloo (not much to see unless you have a history book with you), Brugge canals, odd (if in the US) or old buildings in the Grand Place (Grote Markt), City Hall (looks like a tall cathedral). There's a famous statue of a boy pissing, but I didn't bother to see it.
If you like the old masters type of paintings, try to see the Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts / Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten (Royal Museum of Fine Arts).
I think there may be a National Army Museum.
A very long time ago, a few Saabs were made in Belgium. If you have a car and don't mind see just an old building, maybe you could find it. If you find any info, let us know!!!!!!!!!! It's in a town called Mechelen.
Bastogne is fairly far away. That's where the US Army was surrounded by the Germans in WW2. The Germans sent some soldiers to accept the US surrender. The US commander's reply was "Nuts!". The Germans didn't understand at first. Eventually, the Germans lost. There are lots of old tanks around Bastogne.
