Research the question..... Present the question to the manufacturer of the HVAC system. Include the concerns raised by the maintenance company. You could also raise the question with the manufacturer of the filter, 3M.
I've been using the high-end filters myself every 3 mos.....with no ill effects after 7 years. Of course I have no information regarding the manufacturer of your HVAC system; it is possible that the size of the motor in your system is marginal to begin with.
It is my opion that changing the filter every 3 mos. is good insurance that the filter will never become so glogged that it does load down the motor.
You could also try googling the issue; there may be some information already out there.
You could ask the maintenance company to measure the current flow to the motor after it has come up to speed and compare that to the rating of the motor. Current draw during start uo is usually 3-4 times the running load, so that measurement can be misleading in that it has nothing to do with the issue you're trying to analyze.
