OT: Software for free international video calls? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 8 Dec 2007 16:06:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Our oldest son's fiance left today for a one-year judicial appointment in Saipan (this is not a typo, Saipan is a US Protectorate located between Guam amd Japan) and he will likely be joining her in 6 to 8 weeks. I am trying to find a software program which will allow free, or nearly free, voice and video transmissions so we can stay in touch with them.
I heard about "Skype" on this site, but it seems this program is experiencing growing pains and now has equipment incompatibility issues.
I found a program called "FREE phone" which claims to do what I want, plus it claims to allow free calls from our PC to his/her mobile phones and land-lines too. No real-world experiences posted that I could find.
What software do the experts here recommend?
Shareware is great, although not necessary. Ease of use is mandatory. PC's at each end will be running Windows XP/Pro.
Thanks!
