Cost of ownership? Formula? Posted by Railhead [Email] (#93) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Railhead) on Wed, 9 Jan 2008 17:53:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Is there a formula to figure cost of ownership? (yearly) Or....is it better to compute costs based on miles? (cost per mile) Do people like Herb Hirsch and others who put thousands of miles on their SAABs annually get a different result? More mileage equals more wear and tear, right? or do garage queens last longer, but cost the same? e.g. less miles, less maintenance... or am I wrong? Luck of the draw? New cars have more stuff to go wrong, so they will never be as dependable as my Opel - Isuzu. It cost .04 per mile back in the 1980's. It had a diesel, and I averaged 45 mpg for the life of the car. a simple car with crank down windows and no A/C. What should I expect now mileage wise for cost of ownership? .55? If the cost is done annually?
Thanks
Jim
