new tires/alignments/balancing - minor rant Posted by Mike Keller [Email] (#1926) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Keller) on Wed, 22 Apr 2009 11:37:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just got new tires. Having a hard time trusting the Senor Tire place I've been taking both my 9-5 wagon and non-saab-car to. It's obviously an important part of their business model to recommend either brakes, rotors, or tie rod ends each and every time I bring one of the cars in - something that no doubt John Stossel proved 10 years ago!
When I had new tires put on the saab, I supposedly needed outer tie rod ends. Then I had an alignment done and I was told my brakes were down to a "credit card's" thickness. They weren't even close - but I did the brakes & rotors (diy) anyway to try to solve a vibration issue I've been having. Now they tell me my other car needs an inner tie rod - except that they initially said "inner driver" - and indeed the CV boot was torn w/grease all over. I replaced the CV joint (diy) and brought it back, and they still insist the inner tie rod is bad (which I'm convinced it's not) and won't do an alignment. I can't tell if they just don't want to lose face, or if I'm incorrectly assessing my inner tie rod condition.
My point - can you believe there is one - where do you all go for wheel balancing/alignment services? Any suggestions on this whole business?
