I did this on my 2000 9-3, but it's not quite "plug and play." Your '99 doesn't have the wiring harness up there as sonett43's 9-5 did. Assuming you're using the OE Saab Homelink/dimming mirror as I did, attaching the mirror is "plug and play," but you'll have to run the wiring. As I recall, the black wire is ground and the red is power. That's really all you have to worry about because the two multi-colored wires are for your outside side-view mirrors. Don't worry about those wires because your side mirrors don't have a connection to dim automatically as the new rearview mirror does. The green wire is to turn the dimming function of the mirror off when you put the car in reverse to back up. You can hook it to your reverse connection (back-up lights) on the fuseblock, but I chose not to........if you want to turn off the dimming function, all you'd have to do is touch the button on the bottom of the mirror and the dimming function is OFF, although I've never had occasion to turn the dimmer off while backing up. Don't be tempted to pick up power under the panel where the mirror attaches. That connection is for your interior lights and it works when the ignition is "off"....in other words "unswitched." You need a switched connection such as the cigarette lighter.....something that is only powered with the ignition switched to the "on" position. If you don't do it "switched," you'll have constant power to the mirror. You'll have to run about 6-7 feet of wire from the mirror, under the front of the headliner, down the driver's side A-panel trim piece, and into the fuse panel. There are a number of dash-panel attachment points that you can pick up a ground.
