with a PC laptop, providing you have enabled Hibernation, and you get to define what puts you into Hibernation as well. Do you want just a touch of the power button to do it? Closing the screen (my fav) to do it?
Then when you open the screen you have to, horrors, touch the power button and (I counted it to be more accurate) 9 seconds later my lowly Dell D600 is back and ready, the Wifi is up, and any applications I left open are right back where I left them, just as though I'd left the computer on.
Of course there are things that MAC does better than Windows, and I think that one of the most obvious is that Windows has so many different ways of getting to the same endpoint that people just don't know enough of them to find the one that suits them best. Most true "end users" find or learn how to do something and do it that way forever. Kind of like the route home from work. Those that find different ways home... find different ways to navigate in Windows and find new and sometimes better ways from point A to B.
