We have had 14 SAABs since 1972. Most of those have been near or over 100K when we bought them. They've been as reliable as any car I've heard of, CR statistics to the contrary notwithstanding. We had to replace a camshaft out of warranty on our '75 type 99 that we bought new. A water pump was replaced as a recall, I think, and we had to replace a fuel pump that SAAB compensated us for. That car (our first 4-stroke SAAB) had to have more work than any of the others, and had the only clutch replacement we've ever done on a SAAB. We had a 900T that had over 150K original miles when we bought it, and we had to grind an exhaust valve at 178K- the only engine work we ever had to do.. The only standout consistent problem with all the 9000s (3) and 9-5s (3) has been the notorious serpentine belt system. Other than that, it's been minor stuff or predictable repairs (batteries, mufflers, etc.) I recall that the HVAC module went out on our last 9000, a CSE, but we got lucky there and found a junkyard unit for $150 or so that I put in myself.
So- if it weren't for the fact that we've been Sportwagon people since SAAB dropped the hatchback, my only question would be "What do you want for it?" Seriously, in my experience you've got a bare minimum of as many miles again as you've got now on any properly maintained SAAB. Our current ride, an '04 Arc Sportwagon, just turned 79K this morning. Given what appears to be going on now, I plan on driving it for at least that much further. Then......who knows?
