GM knows they can sell more new 9-5's as a rebadged Buick than they can as a Saab. For example, take the Buick Regal, which will go on sale in the US this spring. It has been selling in China for a year now. They've already sold over 60,000 of them in China. Meanwhile in Saab's world if they can sell 120,000 cars total, that would be a great year.
It didn't take them long to convert the Opel Insignia into the LaCrosse. People equate them as a cheaper Lexus ES 350 that comes fully loaded at $35K, a bargain in comparison. First time I tried to check one out, the dealer website said they had a couple of them. I went down to the dealer and they had already sold them and the cars were gone. The 2nd time the site said they had a couple, I went down to the dealer and both cars already had 'sold' stickers on them. The sales manager said they both sold in a couple days. They still had one in the showroom so I at least got to see it. If you haven't seen it in person, trust me it's a gorgeous car. I was shocked that I was looking at a Buick.
