Wooohhhh..... I've been saying for 7 years (after a '98 Malibu and a '91 Lumina) that I would never buy a GM product again, if only out of spite... The recent issues with SAAB only confirmed this. I'm proud to say all of the SAAB's I've owned were made by an aircraft company ('78 99 GLE, '79 99 GLi, '88 900s, and current '92 900s). Okay, GM had 50% plus when my '92 was made, but they hadn't had much of a chance to f$%k things up too much yet, although I do wonder about the motives for deleting the transmission drain... As I put things together, I think I might be a bit of a fan of GM's recent thinking. The Opel deal got torpedoed... why? Russinal investment and Sberbank... Now we're seeing a similar issue with SAAB... I think we need to applaud GM and put aside out love of SAAB, forget past wrongs (hard to do, I know... I drove a '94 Saab/Opel 900s once...yuck) for this conviction. I am also a fan of Volvo (I also own an '88 760 Turbo) and shudder to think of the deal Ford worked with Geely to sell Volvo to the Chinese (worse than the Russians imho). If the deal with Spyker can be pulled off, minus Russian involvement, FANTASTIC, but if a Russian is involved, I'd rather see SAAB die a dignified death, and put collector plates on my 119k mile '92 900s and drive her for another 10 years secure in the knowlege that in the last hours, her reputation was sullied no more.
