As many of you may know, esp. if you are a 99 fan, there is a story on the 99turbo website about a young man, Billy Graham, who fell in love with SAABs, worked a part-time job to make the money to buy a 99 turbo, taught himself and apprenticed as a mechanic and was in the process of a restoration. Tragically, he was afflicted with cancer and died at 22. His parents kept the car for years, not know what to do with it. They then decided to pass it to their son's friend, who had limited means to be able to own it and then recently passed it to the young man's fiance.
The latest update you can read from her on the 99turbo site is that she is continuing the restoration of the car with the help of an unnamed Saabophile.
This, my friends, is real emotional attachment in its purest form. This is what we all have a little (or a lot) of somewhere in our hearts. And here we can see where the feelings cut across space and time and individuals. This is what the SAAB designers, builders, marketers and management need to understand and bottle so that they can spread the gospel of SAAB -Not just a car, a life.
