I'll second the Tivoli. Fantastic sound quality and even better on reception. What good is great audio if half of what you hear is static?. But I strongly suggest you get the sound woofer for premium sound, especially at low levels.
As a plus the Tivoli has that 1960's Scandinavian look. You can get ones with CD and/or MP3 inputs but the FM radio unit has just 2 simple knobs (on/volume & tuning) in a wooden cabinet. It is actually a copy of the the old Acoustic Research ("AR") units, a company co-founded by audio God Henry Kloss (later the "K" in KLH) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have AR bookshelf speakers and turntable still going strong after nearly 40 years of use.
I feel the Bose Wave are as over rated on audio quality as they are on price. Plus, they are just so damned ubiquitous.
