My first impression of the new 9-5 Posted by Viggenator [Email] (#1091) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Viggenator) on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 20:12:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The dealer got their first car, a 9-5 Aero in Black. I went over to just look it over, not in the market. I was surprised. This is one man's opinion: It's gorgeus - at least in Black ...Much prettier in person. I think they have a winner. Reminds me a little of the new Jag. It's unique and the rear end treatment is handsome, better than anything currently on the market in this guy's opinion. I drove it and I'd love to have one. You can quarrel about the pricing because it is shocking compared to where 9-5's have been, but fully optioned the car has everything, is executed beautifully and should compete well in a higher price range. I wouldn't want to compete for one of the few cars around and pay list price right now, but some will because the styling is unique and compelling and everything about the car draws you. Of course I didn't get to take it through some twisties but the tight suspension and steering on the Aero tells me it would be a joy. I haven't seen any numbers, but the turning circle seemed very tight. My biggest surprise was the interior. This board and some journalists had prepared me to be disappointed in the interior. This car had a black dash with cream colored seats that were perfect and I was fine with the interior. Maybe some other coloer combination wouldn't work as well. Maybe some of you expected or preferred an interior splashed with fake wood. Not necessary, its been overused. Buy a Sonata. My parting shot, you've got to see it in person, and maybe in Black.
