The whole point of the ignition, shifter, brake, window control, and sunroof control being in the center was so that you could use all those controls without having to switch or move hands. It made a lot of sense and was very convienent...you could do everything you needed to do without taking your left hand of the steering wheel. I had a 1999 9-3 for 7 years and 260,000 miles before I had to get rid of it. After I got my '06, It took me about 2 months before I wouldn't reach for the center console every now and then to adjust the windows. I'm all for moving those controls back to the center...
