I guess there would have to be some way to get it to download the PRL, and for sprint to recognize the ESN. all a device needs are 4 things to work, the prefered roaming list, so it knows which towers it can use, the ESN to be recognized by the carrier, and the MIN/MDN combo. that is all just for authentication. how it accesses the network is generic for the technology. at least for phone calls. for data, the phone has a built in username/password, (typically mdn@vzw.something.something and the password was generic. When I was a tech at verizon, i had the ability to manually add ESNs for customers working on "test devices" and field equipment, like seismographs in cali into the ESN database. and then just put in the correct auth info, and BAM worked. same for phones from other carries if the end customer could get into it and change the auth settings for data.
basically, doesn't seem like its very hard. especially with homebrew... I just have a feeling that sprint wont let you add the ESN to their network and that is why it hasn't been done. I wonder if you got to know somebody who worked for sprint, if they could do it for you...
