If all the Billy-Jo-Bobs are willing to pay ~$75K for a two door pickup, then a low $40s price point may not be as crazy as it sounds. Our 9-3S 2.0T listed at $33,415 eight plus years ago, and I was recently shocked to see the prices on main stream 'popularly priced' sedans approaching or exceeding the $40K barrier. The original sticker on my Viggen CV was well into the $40s back in 2000 when the car's first owner bought it!
We all got spoiled by GM's bargain basement pricing of the Saab brand in the later years. With discounts and rebates a 9-3 cost less than a Chevy Malibu! A marketing technique that really didn't seem to bolster sales much but almost certainly contributed to the brand's demise.
