not hard to out-handle a forester Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Thu, 30 Jan 2014 03:02:48 In Reply to: My Encore runs rings around GF's Foresters., Norm9-5, Wed, 29 Jan 2014 20:17:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
at least on dry roads, those things are awful. Try doing an S turn at speed (like 40mph or so)... in addition to lots of body roll, they seem to twist around a vertical axis through the middle of the car. We put 3000 miles on a 2009 (I think that was the year) and really were unimpressed. My wife drove it for about an hour tops before refusing to drive the rest of the trip. All our friends own these things (wives' decisions), I guess because they mostly are long term Subie enthusiasts (lemmings) but the husbands all hate the handling compared to previous subies... its the big tall CUV built on a small chassis that is the problem... there is a perception that the things are the cat's meow in snow, and I'm sure awd and clearance helps going forward through drifts, but that is not everything in winter. All the rest of the time, you have to live with that awful driving experience and mediocre fuel economy. I really love driving the c900's in snow! they are a blast!
