"Some" drivers may not be compatible is not an unusual response for older hardware. Some PC and laptop/netbook manufacturers have custom chips designed for their systems or have custom drivers built. Sometimes the default drivers that come with a Windows OS install DVD will work just fine, other times you might need a specific driver that you would have to get from the manufacturer.

In those cases, first thing to do is check the support page on the manufacturer's web site for your machine and model and see if they have Windows 8 drivers available for download or notes about if Windows 8 is supported. If you find nothing there, the next thing is a Google search is your friend! Odds are you will find discussions of people trying to gt Windows 8 to work with your machine and either post success or failure. If you find no cases of success, then you are likely out of luck. But more often than not, you can find some tips on how to get it to work. (This is true for Windows 7, maybe a little less so for Windows 8 as it is still new.)
