I've found myself needing to get rid of one of my Saabs - its a tough decision, so I thought i'd bring it up to the great minds at Saabnet to help me out. So currently I have a '07 9-5 Aero Sportcombi auto w/ 87K and a '11 9-3SS Aero XWD 6sp with 30K. The 9-3 is my daily driver and my wife drives the 9-5 - she's fallen in love with a Mazda CX-5 and the local dealer is offering a sweetheart deal on the leftover 2014s as they're all manuals, so now it appears is the time to buy (especially since she misses driving a stick).

The 9-3 has been my daily driver, i've babied it and it's been a fantastic car. Only issue has been a small coolant leak from the reservoir. However, it's still worth a reasonable sum so could be practical to sell it, leaving me with the 9-5 as the daily driver. The 9-3 a fun car, but in Oklahoma I really don't need the XWD, and being here our few remaining techs have no experience working on the XWD system - i'm reluctant for my car to be used as the trainer.

Unfortunately with the 9-5, as you might recall if your read the 9-5 board, after a timing cover oil leak job in 2007 by the Cadillac dealer, it doesn't like the heat - something us Okies are known for having. After having several well-known folks in the Saab community look at it and unable to find an issue, i was thinking that i've just gone crazy - however, they too remark that something seems off with the acceleration when it's over 90deg outside. Being a 9-5 Aero which accelerates slower than an old 8V NA 900 in the heat, there's got to be something, but after replacing every three-letter acronym of a sensor under the hood and the catalytic converter, i'm tired of pouring money in to it.

So...here's the question. Should I get rid of the 9-5 and keep the well functioning and highly valued (and complex XWD) 9-3? Or, should I get rid of the 9-3, and send my 9-5 away for "boot camp" at Taliaferro's place in MO, asking Nick to "do whatever it takes" to track down the issue?

Another kicker - if I sell the 9-3 and fixing the 9-5, i'd hopefully have enough $ left to find a cherry 9-3 Viggen, which would be pretty awesome indeed.

Thanks for your feedback!
