I have a run-out gauge that I use when changing rotors. I also like to use a wire wheel on a drill to get the hub nice and shiny. The area up against the center of the hub is especially important to address. Lots of crud can build up in that area and create a tilted surface. It's good to have two wheel sizes, the smaller one for that tight inner area.
