I use chainsaw oil on my mtb chains Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Tue, 28 Apr 2015 07:53:58 In Reply to: Ewwww, DE [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 26 Apr 2015 02:12:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The wax based lubes don't work well in seriously bad conditions. Chainsaw oil works much better for this purpose than motor oil. A 50/50 mix of summer/winter seems about right.
mountain bikes are supposed to get pretty messy. I would use wax based on a road bike where the bike stays fairly clean (but I'm not really that into road riding).
Why not just use chainsaw oil on a chainsaw? It's not expensive or anything...
