To be honest, I don't see the hype of Swedish coffee anymore.
Yes, we might drink coffee often and the 11 o'clock coffee is still sacred to me (lunch is not) and I probably started drinking coffee when I was around 7 or so since we usually ended the day with coffee and a cinnamon bun or a sandwich at 8-9Pm.
We also heard stories and were making fun of the American coffee liken it to colored water at best but I think that was based on the Mickey D style and all the diners style coffee out there which still is pretty much close to water.
Now with all the special blends and roasts and all the coffee shops popping up, coffee here is better than when I get sucked in to buying a bag of Swedish coffee at IKEA or alike and making it for myself.
Both Gevalia or my home regions Lofbergs Lila is very dry and light brown in consistency of the grind and many times taste a little bit bitter compared to my favorite Trader Joes Bay Blend that is black and oily almost.
But I would not spend the crazy money on Starbucks or the like on a daily basis like some people do.
